2025 Fundraiser · $732 raised of $10,452

We need your help

The eHammurabi.org website is provided free of charge. All contents are prepared and organized by experts in cuneiform studies and the Akkadian language. We don’t run advertisements, show pop-ups, or disrupt your use of the service. We need your help to keep it that way.

We are asking for your help in meeting our 2025 budget goal of $10,452. It is a modest total amount, but absolutely essential for continuing our high operational standards. Please consider donating anything you can in order to support our digitization efforts. All our expenses are transparent, and 100% of every dollar donated goes towards keeping the service fast, useful, and free.

How we use donated funds

All donated monies are used towards tangible expenses that make the service possible: engineering, data entry, website hosting, etc. As Table 1 shows, below, we make the most of every dollar and keep our costs as low as possible. When you make a tax-deductible donation to eHammurabi, all your dollars go to that. (Unlike many other non-profit organizations, we do not use your contributions for travel, leisure, or 'management fees'.).

Table: eHammurabi 2025 Projected Expenses
ExpensePurposeCost ($)
Web hostingRenting a cloud server$4,019
EngineeringNew features, bug fixes, etc.$3,156
Data entryInput of content$2,376
OtherMiscellaneous costs$901
TOTAL$10,452

Without funding for these necessary costs, we cannot keep the eHammurabi website experience fast, useful, and free.

Letter from the Executive Director

OMNIKA Foundation
501(c)(3) non-profit · omnika.org

December 9, 2024

Dear future contributor;

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this letter and thank you for considering a donation to the eHammurabi project by OMNIKA Foundation. The purpose of this brief communication is to urge you to make a contribution to the parent organization of eHammurabi.

As a non-profit organization, we do not make money here. As the Executive Director, I do not fly in a private jet, nor do I indulge in taking a salary. The reason for this conduct is simple—the Foundation’s mission and values.

Our goal is to digitize, organize, and make freely available all the world‘s mythological contents. To this end, my job is simple: recruit expert people in related fields of study, collaborate with our board of excellent advisors, and make sure we always have enough cash in the bank to keep our web properties and mobile applications running fast and smooth.

We need your help to make that happen. All of your contributed monies—not just a percentage of it—goes towards helping us execute our mission. My own personal background in software engineering has helped reduce these operational costs tremendously, but it is not enough. The truth is that we need help from donors like you in order to continue our work.

Please consider making a donation if you can. If you do, you can be sure that your funds will be used in a responsible and transparent fashion, as published on our website every year.

If you feel that we are not doing enough or are misusing our resources, please feel free to reach out to me directly with any comments, concerns, thoughts, or reactions. I promise to provide a personal reply, as well as an action plan in order to address your concerns following my team’s review.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Executive Letter signature by Boban Dedović

About Stele3DSM

Stele3D^SM Artifact Explorer for eHammurabi banner

The Stele3DSM Artifact Explorer for eHammurabi is the standard tool for studying the original stone artifact that contains the Hammurabi's Law Code. It allows you to see custom, interactive 2D/3D maps. It was designed by serious researchers but is usable for investigators of all skill levels.

  • Main features
  • Original stone and line art renderings: the entire artifact can be viewed in 2D and 3D formats with custom textures that resemble the original artifact as well as line art sketches from authoritative scholars. To make this happen, we normalized the artifact's 3D geometry and natural curvature into accurate flat surface and 2D renderings.
  • Interactive 3D models: browse the original artifact's contents in stunning detail via high-definition images and textures.
  • Advanced layer options: switch from viewing the original stone artifact to line art within two clicks.
  • Data isolation: we tagged each column and line number so that you can see and interact with individual sections and laws according to a custom-built grid system.

For more information about the latest updates to Stele3DSM Artifact Explorer for eHammurabi, please see our release notes.

About Artifact Damage

What is this? Certain portions of the Law Code of Hammurabi artifact are damaged or otherwise physically mutilated. This prevents translators from deciphering the cuneiform symbols inscribed. Only some laws and portions are impacted. Consequently, laws that have inscription damage may not be accurate.

How did we calculate this rating? Inscription damage is rated by eHammurabi staff according to the total number of damaged cuneiform signs:

  • None: 0–1 damaged signs
  • Minimal: 2–7 damaged signs
  • Substantial: more than 8 damaged signs
  • Total: all signs are damaged
